Jomo Kenyatta Mausoleum

Jomo Kenyatta Mausoleum is the burial site of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s first President, located within the Parliament grounds in central Nairobi. He was buried here with full military honours on August 31, 1978. The stone, glass, and marble mausoleum is an important national heritage site, although public access has historically been restricted and requires prior arrangements.
