Shangani district

Shangani District, also spelled Shingani/Shangaani, is one of the oldest historic districts of Mogadishu and forms part of the city’s historic coastal core. Located beside the Indian Ocean, it is known for ancient mosques, narrow historic streets, coral-stone architecture and remnants of Islamic and Italian colonial heritage. Important landmarks include Arba’a Rukun Mosque and the historic Shangani Friday Mosque.
